A graduate of Hanks High School, Dr. Mata began his medical education at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. After graduation he moved to Lubbock, Texas where he completed his general surgery residency training at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. He then pursued his passion of treating patients with vascular disease and moved on to Charleston, West Virginia, where he continued his education and successfully finished a vascular surgery fellowship at West Virginia University's Vascular Center of Excellence.

A leader in the treatment of vein disease with extensive training and experience in interventional radiology, Dr. Furlong attended medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He then completed a residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the UMKC-Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri and proceeded with a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Both residency and fellowship training were with strong emphasis on interventional procedures.
Dr. Furlong is the Medical Director of Physician’s Vascular Services Clinic and is deeply committed to helping each and every one of his patients understand their individual diagnosis, treatment options, and treatment plans. Dr. Furlong has been recognized by referring practitioners (many of whom are also his patients) as “patient-centric” for his efforts in ensuring every aspect of patients’ experiences at Physician’s Vascular Services Clinics are positive ones.
A native of El Paso, Pablo Fernando Martinez, M.D. attended the University of Texas at El Paso in which he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He continued his studies at Texas Tech University School of Medicine followed by completing a vigorous residency program at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in El Paso, in which he became board certified. For over 5 years, Dr. Martinez practiced at University Medical Center focusing on the care of the patient. Dr. Martinez has since joined Dr. Furlong on maintaining the highest standard of medicine in the Borderland.
